The sword on the cover?

Yeah, is it an actual weapon or just on there for looks?

You know, I wondered the same thing....

It looks to me like a Cascade Sword with a fire suffix on it....

Well, if we follow the pattern that GPG did, we can make some assumptions:

A. A large majority of the art for the game was made before the first drafts for the game were released. With that in mind, this is probably just for eyecandy.

B. The artist probably (most definately) made the sword based off a model that was being used to make a sword eventually. A sword, perhaps the one TAS mentioned, was made not long after based off of it, as well.
