Google has kindly reminded me that today is Edward Gorey's birthday. Gorey wrote and illustrated books, one of which is a favorite of mine called The Gashlycrumb Tinies. The book is done in verse and is an "alphabet" book of sorts. Twenty six children with first names of each letter all meet a very unpleasant death. Yes, the subject matter is kind of morbid, but it is pretty funny in a very dark way. blogs: |
