I repurchased the insult of a game that is "Dungeon Siege III" just because I have to do that to download DS1 & DS2. The classics are not sold separately on Steam. I am currently trying to figure out how to mod them. Is there anything left of the community by now?

Yes we are still around and seems as if more are coming back each day. I made a comment the other day that I had not seen you in a long time and poof here you are. Where your ears burning or was it just luck.

Truth be told, I lacked a living community, when the community dried up I looked elsewhere. I been playing a lot of Skyrim lately for instance but I want my classics back, and improved upon. There are so much that can still be done, right now I am playing DS2 with a cat mansion mod and, nice but it needs a lot of more work for immersion.
I remember driving the community's modders hard about immersion issues, got them to cat mansionise half giants in LoA for instance. For DS2,I just have some cat mansion girls extra races. It would be nice to have a complete replacers for all races, and both sexes, including the half giants. For being lousy at modding myself I really have accomplished a lot I think.
Cat mansion aside, are there anyone into replacing the ancient character models with new ones around? I was done in for Morrowind after all, I would not touch that game without the better bodies mod installed.
What are the primary website the community lives on nowadays? And finally how have you been?

The community did not dry up but for a while it did wander off in various directions looking for new watering holes. However over the last year or so it has started to journey back. We are all coming home to play the older games made new again.
Me I guess I am okay, things could be better however to complain and whine would do no good. people would just nod and say oh that is not good (while giggling in their minds oh I am glad it was not me.)
So I am alive, I am here and I am still modding and testing mods. oh and being insane like always

Great to see you back Niceguy!
I too would like to see better character models in DS2 and the Cat Mansion characters are just the DS1 models converted to work in DS2 as the enhanced engine still supports the old models from DS1, which is why we could make the old DS1 monsters work in DS2 as well.
Making new character models is a lot harder than in Morrowind, which is why there's been none. Theorectically you can use GMax to import new models into SiegeMax and maybe export them for use in DS1 or DS2 but I've not been able to get it work. The models show up fine in SiegeMax but the exporting them fails with an error every time.
But that is only because I am occupied moving, just about 200 meters but my laqndlord want to demolish the house I live in and offerd me another appartment nearby. Once I am settled in I intend to dive into a lot more. While Skyrim rocks and are really advanced as a game, I simply just download mods from it's community, I have been unable to penetrate it. I want to feel welcome and at homme somewhere.
It is nice to be welcomed back and I hope more arrive.
Iryan, I understand that making new bodies are hard but the existence of the Cat Mansion mods proves that it can be done, what we are really lacking are someone with the right skills to do it. For now I rather see everything converted to Cat Mansion then left as it is now since they are superior in quality, if you like the "Chibi" style (at least that is what a sister of mine call it).
Another fought, would it be possible to replace graphical elements like substituting a low polygon tree with a more advanced one in a dynamic way? I mean the new tree would then have the old ones name so when the map call for it the new one takes it's place, without any editing of the map file being done at all.

Here's one site with gmax models and there's free models around if you look hard enough
