confused again

The multi-player version of DS1 is the Utrean Peninsula. Legends of Utrae is a single player version of the Utrean Peninsula. So why would someone wish to play the single player version of the multi player game in multi player? Just wondering from a purely scientific perspective. I am not disparaging the person that asked the question. It is just from my point of view it seems odd, then again I am not one to play multi player. This is a hold over from when I was younger. My Dad would not let me play games on line for several reasons. The cost, the fact that things lagged bad because our connection to the Internet was dial up, and although he never said it I believe he was afraid I would meet some weirdo. Now I just do not have time for playing games on line so I do not. Now I for sure have met the weirdos and became one of them (other people call us modders). So from a purely scientific point of view can someone answer the question for me? As this could give me a reason for pursuing the creation of a mod that would supersede
heroes.gas in LoAs expansion.dsres by adding several summoned characters like jondar, lyssa, ulora, and so on. As I do believe I can add all the characters to the inventory of the primary hero so they could be called at need in a multi player game. once summoned they would remain active for the entire multi player session. It would be not be to difficult as it would just be an edit of one of my DS1 Adepts primary characters. adding the spells, removing some of the custom cat mansion weapons and armor, ect. Then adding in the necessary spells.

The modded single/multi player version (Legends of Utrae) has a much deeper storyline and quests than just the retail multiplayer map/quests.

Playing Legends of Utrae and getting the benefit of the enriched storyline with a friend (multiplayer) instead of NPC is fun for some folks. I've tried it myself but didn't get very far as my boyfriend had really lost interest in Dungeon Siege at that point.

isn't there an app for that? on the map side of things with an editor of a gas file? ... much like broken world did? or perhaps u are wanting to use summon npc? me not know I am one of the weidos lol
but yeah heroes.gas could be edited...probably could edit the multiplayer aspect of ds, if one wanted to take the time and make it load mercs but...not many play multiplayer so would it be worth it?

Kathycf is right in that there's more and deeper quests in LOU than the original multiplayer version. Plus there's been extra content added with both LOA and third party monsters to make a more varied experience and some empty regions had monsters added to make it worth exploring them (Eastern Island & the Pit of Despair for example). I also mixed it up a little in veteran and elite modes by changing the monster population in certain regions to try to keep the experience fresh, something that not even DS2 can do.

So yes it would probably be interesting to play in multiplayer. It would even be easy to re-enable the single player hireables though summoned versions would be better as they would increase their stats and levels as otherwise you would have to rehire the single player hireables every play session. Unless a DS1 version of KillerGremal's nifty flick command that increases hireable's levels in-line with the player's hero could be created. Plus the nifty equipment upgrade command gizmo that upgrades the hirable's gear in-line with their new levels.
