getting Gom'ed

fighting this Seck leader called Gom, he died and resurrected, brings in 3 summons constantly... I am just practicing on him and reloading, I have decided I will go all melee and 2 archers and no magic...haven't been modding much, the weather has been so nice I been mowing grass and enjoying the outdoors Smile

Who's going to heal the melee people? Are they dual skilled in N.magic? Also, what is this "outside" you speak of? I r confused... Insane

Less than two weeks ago (mar 31-april 1) we had this big ol storm, maybe 8-9 inches. Tuesday it was 82. Not bad today.

Going up against the GOM without any healing magic is just silly. So I say EEP which can be defined as Equal Error Protection. Error not to have healing magic, Equally error to attack the GOM using Melee or Ranged Characters as the GOM is well protected against both. It can be done with a mix of Ranged characters, so long as the bows they are using have a range greater than the GOM's magic (about 16 meters would work) and Mages (healers). I tried once using Melee characters and spent most of my time dead.

Maybe after mowing the lawn you could use the same tactic and mow the GOM.

my main character is all 4 roles, so guess she can heal if needed, I have a summon on her either combat or nature depending on which is lowest as I have a weird leveling system of leveling the lowest stat to be equal to the others. the melee have shields that had like 35% resistance and the weapons are all doing 1000+ damage, they weren't taking much damage at all, I had healer in one time and he died instantly seems the summons like targeting healers, also mainly due to the fact I keep forgetting to click the mana potions button and also not taking enuff potions with me.

Seck leader Gom, no problem. When Gom resurrected as a demon, Merik on major heal (for targeted spells) and Sikra on healing wind (for area spells) could counter the damage it dished out. Her nature skill being less than her combat meant healing wind didn't use up too much of her mana in one go. If need be some of the others in my parties (e.g. Ulora) were decent secondary healers too.

Isn't the demon's summon spell for six monsters at a time? That's what I remember. Too much for me, but they only last 20 seconds, so time to run away. The magic-casting summons stop to cast, get left behind and lose interest. Stop party to regroup (drink potions, maybe even refresh a buff), let Gom itself and the melee summons catch up, then resume the fight when the summons are about to expire. Demon-Gom doesn't immediately re-summon but tries other attacks first.

I've done it with lead character a dual archer-fighter and again as a dual combat mage-fighter. At least one was on hard difficulty. Always on vanilla DS1, not LoA rules.

What did take a long and dangerous time was fighting Gom-under-another-name in Realm of Kings with only a single character allowed (plus pack mules, safely parked a good distance away). That was on normal difficulty, I cannot imagine succeeding on hard.
