Version 1.1

Fixed gale force wind sound along South Shore.

A few other improvements.

Updating to this version will not affect your savegame charactor.

Sounds interesting, but a link would be fine!?

... since the search didn't find anything related: Sad
https://www.siegetheday.org/?q=search/node/Dawn%20Of%20The%20Third%20Age

Not very hard to find the "link":

Download contains; Map, Resource File, PDF, Readme

(version 1.1 - 565 Mb)

This is the area that had the gale force wind sound (with no trees swaying) in the initial release. I went through the map a hundred times checking, and rechecking, and still, this one got by me. I found it two minutes after uploading the map. Five people had downloaded, before it was fixed.

I have put the link (with tags) all over the place. Here, on Siegetheday, the link is found in the blog post; Dawn Of The Third Age Download and in a DS2 Mod downloads post. If you google " dawn of the third age " you will find a direct, and some indirect connections to the download. I don't know why the Siegetheday search doesn't work.

I put a link to Dawn of the Third Age in the download area of the site. https://www.siegetheday.org/?q=node/4096. When I have time I will upload the map to my server space so the download will not be so confusing and will be somewhat faster.

Dawn of the third age could use vendor and quest giver icons. I see that there are no characters to hire in the Map so you will want to take a level 50+ party from some other game into this map. I have been around the start area and the outpost of Skye and I have yet to discover any quests. Am I missing something?
Elf

garthagain's picture

I didn't use the npc icons, don't like them. I was aiming for immersion in the map, hope this isn't too big of an incovenience.
There are six vendors and one enchanter at the traders caravan.
If you take the Ellennu lift, there is a Pet shop. Down by the Falls, Reagent sales.
One vendor, Bosbie the blacksmith, and one enchanter in Skye.
Captain Kirk is out in the boonies, West of Skye.
The Sargent at Winhaven has supplies, once you have retaken Windhaven from the Northern Celts.
In Eastport there are four vendors and one reagent salesman. The vendors in Eastport are, the Blacksmith, Malchom, easy to find, Angus, standing in front of his shop, Elvira the Herbalist, in the garden, and Derown, on the top floor of the Archives. Arcanist Agrand is sitting at a table at the rear of his home.

All vendors have the same "Super Store" supplies, they carry everything, weapons, armor, potions, reagents, etc.

There are two innkeepers where you can find your party members, one in Skye and one in Eastport. The Skye innkeeper is quite often in the backrooms. In Eastport, look on the top floor of the Stone Maiden Inn.

Insofar as Quests go, they are all over the map. Immediately on leaving Ellennu, you will run in to quests, especially heading East. A quest triggers when you approach the Ellennu Teleporter.

In Skye you will find the only secondary quest. Talk to Garth.

Not having vendor and quest icons just makes it more like DS1 and I was expecting DS2 Laughing out loud Like the map so far. I walked to Skye scared of flying

All except four quests trigger without having to talk to anyone.

Talk to Merlin to trigger "The Cosmic Connection". Two quests are dependant on this "They Found A Way" and "Life Stone".

Talk to Garth at the Skye Outpost to trigger "Garth's Crystal".

Thank you for the list of quests. So far I have found Leyline Disruption, Prime Location and The Crown Jewels. My party consists of Sasha with her wolf Cotton Candy, Tiahna with her wolf Fear the Pink and Fiathna and her wolf Sandy. We completed the Leyline Disruption Quest and the Prime Location Quest but where killed trying to complete the crown jewels. We might not be powerful enough yet.

The map is fun so far.

That's good bare_elf. The Harpys can get you sometimes. With those bandits you are talking about, I often run, to separate them, then take them on one or two at a time.

I am puzzled you didn't mention the "Haku Mischief" quest. It triggers as soon as you go to leave Ellennu. If it didn't, I don't know. I've never had it not start.
If it didn't trigger, you should be able to get it by heading north along the high path, from where you enter on loading the map. There is Haku hunting party there, and the chief is the target.

Good you're having fun.

The map seems to be working with my weapon mods, Armor Mods, Darkelf's Wolf Mod (based on my DS1 Wolf Mod), DS1 Legendary Mod for DS2. My weapons and armor are showing up at the correct levels for the characters and that rarely ever happens.
Elf

I have the "Haku Mischief" quest I just have not started it yet. So it did trigger.

garthagain:

I've been reading your posts regarding your project with interest. I watched the updated game-play video (Aug 1) and the map looks great and fun to play. I like your music choices in the vid as well (I recognized the "Besieged Town" one or w/e it is called, the music that is played in Stonebridge). It was cool to read that it is an open world with no roadblocks regarding traveling. BTW, a nice touch in the tavern having the Thane tell his favorite story, I had to laugh at that plus the belchy guy. I find it fun to chat up the various folks around and see what they have to say for themselves. I think it is little things like that, that add flavor to a game.

I downloaded the map files this evening, but right now I do not have either DS2 or Broken World installed. Once I find my copies (I'm very disorganized *and* a pack rat or "collector of memorabilia" as I like to say it, so finding the CDs may take a few days) I am definitely going to give this map a try.

A quick question. I don't have any DS2 characters at a high enough level to play through the story and even if I did, I don't know how I would import them into your map. Is there a way to work around this? Any help from anybody would be welcome.

Once you have DS2 and Broken World reinstalled use one of the pre-made characters from the character selection screen they all start out at level 39. From there you can Start Broken World in Kalrathia and add a few characters there. They will also be at level 39/40. What I would do next is download Sharkhulls My Testworld and install it money easy to find, good inventory in store and at the far left side of the map (its a small square one) there is a harpy queen in a pen that you can fight you can not kill her and she does not often kill you but you can build up skills fast. here is the link https://www.siegetheday.org/?q=node/883. In under 45 minutes you will have a level 50+ Party. That is what I basically did except since I have the legendary mod installed I picked a female archer from the Utraean Peninsula and Yesterhaven.

Remember with DS2 and Broken World you can jump between maps (it is not like DS1) As long as you do not remove a mod it will work. After you save on one map you go back to the start screen and click on Single Player pick your primary character from the list and continue to map selection screen and pick a different map and there you go. That is how I always had a level 100 party ready to test The Legendary Mod.

Things are progressing nicely. Have visited Temple Bay, West Bay and East Port. I have found the following Quests related to Act 1.
1. Haku Mischief - Completed
2. Demons - Completed
3. Leyline Disruption - Completed
4. Prime Location - Completed
5. It Might Work - Completed
6. Not Done Yet - Yes I am
7. Abandoned Goods - Completed
8. Ritual Binding - Completed
9. Dark Wizards - Started
10. The Stelae of Life - Started
11. Trolls - Started
12. Strange Lights - Started

In looking around the map I have discovered quests from Acts 2 and 3, but ran quickly away because my party is not yet powerful enough to attempt them.

Looking around Temple Bay for the Keys to open the temple doors.

While this is true, you can't go just anywhere and do everything at level 50, or even 60 and higher.
I just sent some level 57 characters into the Skye Territories, and found the Deekers were too much. Tried running but they just chase you forever.

Then went in with a level 65 crew, and still couldn't tackle them.

Finally got them at level 80.

A video - dealing with the Deekers, level 58 party.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QJi25E9qzo

When looking at the map before uploading, it seemed all too easy, so the damage levels were increased. Sure makes it tougher to get through in some places, and I'm even running into surprises.

garthagain's picture

Tried them but they mess with the fog, and it doesn't look right. The only setting that looked ok (a brief test) was with the see far hack on, and set to 50.

I use AllSaves with the see far hack set to OFF and the fog works fine.
Elf

garthagain's picture

Here are some pics that show what I mean about the fog.

1. BW regular exec.
2. Allsaves-seefar 50
3. Allsaves-seefar off

Also tried seefar at 60, 70, 80, and 120, but not as good as 50.

I decide to add a 4th party member so I picked The Ranger Karma from "Training of the Hero" Presently she is a level 77 Master Assassin.
Sasha is now a level 77 Senior Evoker, as are Tiahna and Fiathna. They each have their own wolf.

1. Haku Mischief - Completed
2. Demons - Completed
3. Leyline Disruption - Completed
4. Prime Location - Completed
5. It Might Work - Completed
6. Not Done Yet - Yes I am
7. Abandoned Goods - Completed
8. Ritual Binding - Completed
9. Dark Wizards - Completed once I found the first wizard the rest was simple
10. The Stelae of Life - Started
11. Trolls - Completed
12. Strange Lights - Completed

While Searching for the Stelae of Life I discovered the ruins of Lavenord received and completed the Chief Thief Quest and received the Oytissohwa Quest. I am sure that the Stelae of is somewhere between West Bay and Lavenord, based on the hint given in the quest.

1. Haku Mischief - Completed
2. Demons - Completed
3. Leyline Disruption - Completed
4. Prime Location - Completed
5. It Might Work - Completed
6. Not Done Yet - Yes I am
7. Abandoned Goods - Completed
8. Ritual Binding - Completed
9. Dark Wizards - Completed once I found the first wizard the rest was simple
10. The Stelae of Life - Started
11. Trolls - Completed
12. Strange Lights - Completed
13. Chief Thief - Completed
14. Oytissohwa - Started

There are 15 quests in act 1 so I must be getting close.

Elf

garthagain's picture

Several times the party I sent in here got wiped out by the "Chief Thief". Don't usually have my partys set up to deal well enough with his magic attacks.

garthagain's picture

Sent a level 59 party into the Windhaven level 90 quest, "Boundaries Crossed, with extreme caution.

At this level, you can't go beyond the entrance, or you'll be in big trouble. One or more of the heavy hitters will take your party out very quickly.

In this foray, the party leveled up to 60.

This is a level 90 quest, but, depending on your party, you may be able to do it at a lower level.

I had totally forgotten the DS2 feature that allows switching between maps. This makes things easier for me. I also downloaded Sharkull's map and will try your method out, lili.

Once I have an appropriate party assembled, I will still proceed with caution as I know nasty things will be lurking about. Shock

Thanks for the advice.

Yes go slowly Kathy, there are things everywhere and they keep returning (respawning) so keep looking over your shoulder. Whatever the quest level is believe it! I would be afraid of a level 50 quest if my party was all level 65. It is a pretty map and wish there was a tour bus so you could go places without fighting. just kidding some of the landscape will kill you too, even without monsters.

Elf

I found The Stelae of Life and went back to Ellennu and to the falls and could not find a place for the Stelae so wandered about the Ellennu Caverns looking for its home. No luck. I think I will get on with the Oytissohwa quest. I hunted for Oytissohwa all around Lavenord per the quest hints, but he must have gone on vacation because he is not in any of the broken buildings or semi-intact buildings either. I looked for some symbol like in Broken World that a Letch might hide behind. But then I realized that might be a problem because there where no incantations or shrines to cast them in. Insane

Good Night

garthagain's picture

Don't want do to many spoilers, but it is in the Falls area. HAN (walking around the falls) sometimes stops right near it.
Have to change the name of the base. It's called "Azunite statue base", should be "Azunite Stelae Base". Already working on Version 1.2.
