The earth will end when our sun goes super-nova, or a really big asteriod collides with it... :P What will happen to humanity? I don't have a clue, but I hope that we advance our technological abilities to the point where colonizing space on a large scale is feasible...

I agree with you about Hydrogen , but until issues of production (separation from O) and volitility / storage are addressed, I think fuel cells will be our best portable energy solution. Perhaps H + fuel cells are the next step... after ethanol + fuel cells of course.
How much more would you be willing to pay (your own money) for a 100% environmentally friendly vehicle? 5%, 10%, 50%, double... or a set $ amount? (Currently the "green" automotive technologies are more expensive... try to answer the max you'd be willing to pay just to help the environment).
