Intel and Nvidia will not merge, the SEC would never approve that deal since they would control around 75-80% of the graphics market. AMD does not make gpu's so them buying ATI does not change the market. For graphics Intel is the highest percentage, followed by Nvidia, and then ATI. You may not think Intel and gpu's but they dominate the integrated graphics market.

Personally I would prefer more cpu and gpu companies, not less, but I dont mind the AMDTI or whatever name they will go with, the last couple computers I have built have been AMD cpu with ATI gpu.
