Mount&Blade

Hey all, Just wondering if any of you have heard of or tried out Mount&Blade? It's a very intuitive Medieval combat simulator with role-playing elements such as minor quests and character building. I find it highly addictive with the massive amount of mods the community has made available the replay ability is almost never ending. The only complaint with the vanilla version seems to be that the game needs a little more depth. Otherwise it's really fun riding on horse back and knocking your foes off the back of their mounts with a bow or a blade and laying siege to castles. One thing to note it's a big step away from point and click rpgs, it's closer to a FPS as your movement controls are the "wasd" and you have manual directional targeting with mouse. If you play Oblivion you may be able to get into it fairly easily. All in all it's worth a try as the game is a very light download and offers a free trial as it is still in the development stages soon to be released. Here's the link if anyone is interested: Here's a link to some screens mind you these are a little dated as they had a nice graphical update since: forums: |

All all, long time no see! I hope you don't mind me resurrecting old posts, but I just wanted to drop in and say that a multiplayer expansion is on the horizon for Mount&Blade called Warband. If you haven't yet tried Mount&Blade you don't know what you're missing. It's mod community is large, several years mature and thriving. It is true the controls are nothing like Dungeon Siege being FPS in nature, but the world is so modder friendly you can virtually create any kind of scenario module for it. Think Neverwinter nights role play with real time head bashing medieval style!
So here's a pic of the up coming expansion with some improvements to graphics:
