DS2 2.2 patch problem

New machine with Windows 7 Pro. DS1 loaded fine as did the patch and all worked. Loaded LoA witch will not run on a computer without an internet connection(at least, for me). DS2 loaded fine but when I start the patch things lock up, as in, I have to force shutdown. I just get the "preparing the Patch" bar but nothing happens BTW: I have tried with Anti-virus off, as admin and have tried 6 of the compatibility packs . blogs: |

I believe the patch needs the cd but maybe wrong...its quite possible u have a corrupt patch, or perhaps ds2 didn't install right. may have to uninstall ds2. reinstall it, the see if ds2 runs as 2.0 then try to patch again with a fresh download from - http://download.cnet.com/Dungeon-Siege-II-v2-2-patch/3000-7536_4-10442335.html and try again... and yes keep antivirus off during patch. I assume u aren't using the steam versions.
Check if you have enough hard disk space left on the parition there the temporary folders are.
The DS2 needs about ~4GB of free space to install correctly.

Partial success, I changed the folders and the patch ran until the end of updating terrain.ds2res, tried a new copy of the patch which ran till the blue bar reached the end of maps.ds2res so I'm wondering if the patch completed???

What exactly happened when the blue bar reached the end of maps.ds2res? Did the patch screen stay there, go away, or what? It has been a while since I installed the 2.2 patch so I am not sure exactly how it ends, but I think it gives you some indication that it has finished. Let me see what occurs if I attempt to install the patch on one of my computers. I will let you know.
Okay I Installed DS2 and the 2.2 patch on my windsws 7 laptop had not done this because I had just finished updating the windows xp install to windows 7. At least on this computer when the patch was finished installing it went directly into the Game startup sequence with the black screen hour glass and the dots running across the lower left of screen. When the game started it had a version of 2.2
Check your version number if the game starts. if it says 2.2 you are most likely good to go. If it dose not start I would suggest uninstalling both the game and the patch. then start over again.

the blue bar gets to the end of maps.ds2res then windows gives me the "gpg patch has stopped working" message. The game seemed to start ok but I dropped a couple of simple mods for DS2 and they did not function, Cool_dryads and DE GiantGnome8.ds2res

most mods on this site need 2.2 if the patch didn't complete u will have 2.0 still, so that could be a problem. even though computer is new may want to check harddrive for bad sectors etc.
Dark Elf is correct you may wish to check the hard disk you have installed Dungeon Siege on for bad sectors. Or if you have more than one hard drive on the system try installing it on the other drive and see what occurs when you try the patch.
do you have DS2BW on CD?
when installing DS2BW, the original DS2 installation updates to Vers 2.2 automatically
