Migration Progress

techiem2's picture

I had a little time to mess with migration more.
I have a test site up at https://www.dsmods.org
It's running the latest version of Drupal and I found an import module.
It seems to have worked for almost everything..the notable exception being the forum posts..I need to figure out why.
Feel free to poke around and let me know if you notice anything missing/broken there (besides forum content).

Checked to see if I can write Private Messages and it worked just fine. Also had no issues with posting to my blog.

I'm getting options in the top menu that look like admin-only stuff. Especially when the tool-tips start with "Administer ..." Looks like you made me an admin (by mistake, or does it default dangerously?)

Of course, I can't check my account here to see what the settings are, as that display is broken. I do have the administrator box checked on the dsmods site, so it's at least being consistent.

Also it spells your name strangely. You're "techiem2" here, and "stdadmin" there, on the same content. Did you delegate to yourself properly?

Edit: Since bare_elf mentioned PM's I took a look there. Mailboxes were empty, so either you didn't import those, or it broke.

only the people that are staff or retired staff have that option now. Techie has to build the other staff groups. No worries.

My id is there with all details (including password). "My account" has View, Edit and Track tabs all of which work. (I haven't tried changing anything inside Edit but the stuff is there to be changed).

The top banner has My account and Log out options top right. Along the bottom of it there is a Home tab, but no others - not forums, blogs, polls, tutorials, rules or help.

Going down the left there is a heading User Menu (instead of my id name) with items My account and Log out only - no My blog or My inbox. Would there be if I'd blogged anything or been sent any PM? Talking of which, I see no way to send PM (see below).

The next heading, Navigation, offers Forums and Recent content. Forums is marked with a solid arrow instead of a little circle but the arrow cannot be clicked to expand a submenu. Nothing corresponding to this site's collected news, staff and search options. Nothing corresponding to the Game resources section and so on. A Syndicate section (whatever that is?) but not the IRC Chat.

Clicking on the word Forums brings up a list of forums including Administrator Discussion, Moderator Discussion etc which I have never been allowed to see here. I am not allowed to create content in any forum I've tried neither unfamiliar (Administrator) nor familiar (eg Site Discussion, DS2 General Discussion, Off Topic General Discussion). bare_elf has started a new forum thread just to see if she could, and I have posted a reply within it (despite it being in The Playground which I do not believe I should be seeing). Her post does not show her picture and her id is not clickable to view. There is a reply option but neither Write to author nor Quote.

The list of forums starts with Game Patches and further down are the other headings and sections from Downloads here. The forums claim to have no content (except the one bare-elf started) but content from here is on site and can be displayed via the Recent Comments and Recent Blogs windows down the right.

The forums are all there, but empty. The content is all there, but only reachable from the "recent" links. So there's an intermediate table in the database that didn't get populated by the migrate tool, that links the forum records to the node records. The table itself isn't missing as the content creation works in bare-elf's test. There doesn't appear to be a way to get a list of the node records directly (except that "recent blog posts" is a list of nodes).

I played with random numbers in the url in the browser address box, and it appears the node-comment linkage is good. You're just missing forum-node. It may be possible to go back to the migrate tool for that.

Edit: I wandered around a bit more, and found the migrate tab on the content page, which confirmed that the forum-node data didn't migrate. I saw a lot of other stuff was missing folders to migrate from/to, but that one looks like a derived error, empty arrays because something else failed to populate. I have no Drupal experience, so I probably shouldn't try to help.

I am also somehow set to administer the site at the other end of your link there. I backed out slowly, and didn't (hopefully) break anything. Looks like a nice update!

Do not panic, there is nothing on the site you can damage and even if you did it would not damage anything here on the old site.
