Got a new Camera!

Dance I got a new camera, well it is a year old, a friend was cleaning out his closet and found a box from a girlfriend he now longer has. Since it was labeled with her name he asked me if I wanted it. Thinking it might be clothes (she had excellent taste) I said sure without even opening the box. When I got home and opened the box I discovered two shirts that I gave to Abby since they where to large for me. Four pairs of running shorts (the short kind) that where just my size. Under all this there was an unopened box that said Canon EOS Rebel T6 EF-S 18-55 IS II.
So I opened it and there was a totally unused camera in the original packaging with a Canon EFS 18-55 mm lens and a 32 Gigabyte Sandisk SDHD card. After I charge the battery (comes with charger), read the manual, I will take some pictures and post them here. Yes I did ask my friend if he wanted the camera, he said no because his Iphone 7 was all he needed for surfing the Internet, taking photos and making calls. I keep telling people phones are for voice and text messages, cameras are for pictures, and computers are for the Internet. Am I old school or what?

I think with people's reliance on texting and the subsequent abbreviations, twittering and facebookdooding, we will soon downgrade our language skills back to grunting at each other. Don't mind me, I reluctantly have a cell phone and a sometimes wish to stomp on it when it rings. Shock Angry

So anyway...

uh guuh ug mmmm oo!

(That's grunt speak for "Grats on the new camera!" Look forward to seeing some piccies). Smile

Ooooooh you're a lucky elf, some shots of the local wildlife will be much appreciated, the urban kind if you get my drift. Wink

Just a few images of wild places I like to cycle and walk around. Sorry Siggy but dog is no longer into pictures. He is old for a wolf 12 years old and the only time he gets up is when he needs to go out to do his business. I may have to move to a ground floor apartment soon as he has a hard time with stairs.

The camera does not have a timer so I can not take a picture of me. I had Abby take a picture of me but she cut off my head in the fist one, in the second one I have no legs and I am kind of tipped over (I know I was standing straight). I will have to figure out how to take a selfie with it. Elf

Those look nice, Lili.

I particularly like this one:

The one with the yellow flowers is pretty.

re: tech stuff - not to digress too much

Well it's a mixed bag. Better health care, video games and internet access are great for me. Big smile Wink

I just get so pissed off seeing people (just about everyone) fiddling around with their smart phones. Like, every where I go. I guess it's like a whole entertainment system or something. Damn kids and their fancyscmancy phones! A phone to me is not a high priority since I hate talking to people. Angry

And computers are desktops, rather than laptops, I'd imagine, and single-player games should be playable disconnected.

I considered the EOS Rebel when I went digital, but Canon annoyed me with their deliberate policy not to let their older lenses work with the digital camera range. I had an A-1 film camera with a bunch of good lenses (up to a 500mm telephoto) and no way to use them. So I ended up going EVIL (Electronic Viewfinder, Interchangable Lenses) with an Olympus instead. I still don't have a smartphone, and would prefer my flip-phone to be even dumber than it is. I'm not even sure that text messages belong there, but it's a borderline case.
