Uploading a Dungeon Siege 2 map (posted in the Nexus forum)

garthagain's picture

( I recently posted this in the Nexus site forum, and thought I should also post it here )

I have been trying to figure out if, and how I can upload a Dungeon Seige 2 map to the Nexus and I'm stymied. There are some DS mods on the Nexus.
I'm am new to forums, blogs, and uploading and could shure use some help, guidance and advice.
After years of work, the map should be ready in a couple months. I've been getting help from Siege The Day, a site dedicated to the Dungeon Siege games, but cannot upload there.
About the map; "Dawn of the Third Age" ..... Description = "Valdis, the Cinbri are gone, new villains emerge as the land reawakens.Level 50+". It picks up where Dungeon Siege and Broken World left off. 7zipped file size = 486 MB(+ a bit).

While on the Dungeon Siege topic, my thought on the (Nexus) DS1 mods page is that it should be called Dungeon Siege rather than Dungeon Siege 1. That way DS1,2, and 3 would be covered under one heading. There is now one DS2 mod on the page.

Yes you can upload here (maximum size = 500 Mb) - Better than Nexus Mods (only mods)!

Just follow indications:
1) https://www.siegetheday.org/?q=node/11#modcat
2) https://www.siegetheday.org/?q=node/add/mod

GSplit = https://www.gdgsoft.com/gsplit/
OR
WinZip® = http://kb.winzip.com/help/help_splitdlg.htm
OR
File Splitter and Joiner = https://www.raymond.cc/blog/how-to-split-and-join-big-files/

it could be uploaded to siegetheday but with the 100mb limit would have to add as separate zips of 100mb or less...for a map that could be hard to separate. believe Bare_Elf has some stuff on Techie's website, perhaps Techie could grant u some access at his site to upload the complete map. would have to talk to Bare_Elf about that. as for Nexus site been long time since I uploaded there, forgot my password so cant say how Nexus works. but I remember adding a couple skyrim mods once.

I just 7zipped the map and resource files separately; map = 285 MB, resource = 186 MB.
Not shure about file splittihg apps, I,ll have to investigate further, but I doubt it's something I'd want to do.

Siege The Day is the best site to have this map. My blog on the Nexus, under Classic Games, is getting some attention (no comments so far).
If Dawn of the Third Age was on S.T.D., A blog on the Nexus could direct viewers to this site.

I will look into getting the entire map uploaded in one file. I need to chat with a few people so watch your private messages for a response.

Did you go to this page at the Nexus? Note the option to add a game to the database.

But I have no idea how the existing DS2 entry would get moved.

I missed the reply to my post on the Nexus until just now (28th of May), because it was on the next page, and not directly linked to my post. And because I'm dumb.

@garthagin; Since so far there are no mods for "Dungeon Siege 2", you'll have to start that process to upload one.

Note that there's a built-in delay to publishing a mod for a game that's new on the Nexus while the admins verify the set-up. (Lots of back-end plumbing involved.) No mods for " Dungeon Siege 2 " yet, so you'll be the first!
