Someone's Birthday....

It has come to my attention that a certain someone is celebrating their 22nd birthday. I won't say who, I will leave it this very nice person to reveal themselves or not as they wish. Birthday greetings to Mysetery Person! Laughing out loud

Oh Oh I wonder who this person is?

To distract everyone from that guessing game...

At 22 you celebrate birthdays, somewhere later you start to ignore them, and even later on you start to deny them. Where do you think those transitions happen? 30, 40, 50?

There are special ages enforced by society (driving age, drinking age, voting age...) so everyone has a tendancy to follow their age until all those barriers are passed. After that I think it's more a level of confidence within yourself, as opposed to a certain age. If you need your age to help define yourself, then it is important to you... with self-confidence you are comfortable with yourself no matter your age and it becomes less important.

Of course there are times when you do take the time to reflect on your life (commonly at 30, 40, 50...) but that's a different thing: an opportunity to take stock, not really age dependant (except for our own impressions of what we wanted to accomplish by that age...).

Denial can (of course) come from many directions (regret, fear of mortality, fear of change...).

Edit:
BTW, this thread isn't about my B-Day... which is a couple weeks away. Smile

Golly gosh, Sickies, I think you know!? :P

Age is a relative construct, which matters only when purchasing "firewater" at the liquor store... Laughing out loud
