Plans

I'm going to give starting a map from scratch another go. I've failed to complete them many times. Hopefully I'll have something released. I plan to do pre-releases as I go due to the the high failure rate. They can be edited or picked up by other modders. I decided to do this since I'm bored with the DS2 map and its design.

That is a super great idea Dulac. You said you had started maps from scratch many times, do you still have them? Why not start by stitching them together as a starting point?
I would be very happy to test whatever you come up with. I like testing things. it is number one on my bucket list.

Elf

Thanks bare_elf. I plan to salavage some regions from the past. I lost my first two projects, but I was trying to design an extremely open world back then.

I'll probably use this region and the monster I designed for it (more were planned) first:

I didn't walk through the entire region (died, lol). It will require some changes. Mostly it lacks any shrines.

Have you any base ideas for what the maps central theme? Where/when it takes place? Or is it just gonna be a map you run through as like a challenge?
If you need any creative ideas, you know who to talk to. I always wanted something to sort of fill the year-long gap in between DS2 and DS2BW.

Have your hero campaigning through that narrow strip of land in the video, without their party (as they appear to have split up for a while based on the reunion they had in BW) trying to find some lesser evil that the cataclysm unleashed. Not quite the Overmage, but maybe a Black knight of sorts. Evil magic, sword/shield.. Dressed in, like, darker black chainmail or something. Sick. Simple, but fun.

I'm still learning the basics of map-making, I haven't had too much time to dedicate to it, but I do have my PC built and I'm going to download/install DS2BW and the mods again on it. Then the modding tools and wot not, then I can get to ACTUALLY doing what I've been reading. Maybe I can help somehow, once I git gud.
