Quoth the Raven "Nevermore"

Completely irrelevant blog entry. I've recently begun watching football with my boyfriend to trade sporty comments and such. I thought the Baltimore Ravens were cool because they took their name from Edgar Allan Poe's classic poem The Raven. Poe traveled around quite a bit in his regrettably short life, and lived for a time (and died) in Baltimore. So, schadenfreude. We were watching the AFC football playoffs this past Saturday and my heart was filled with spiteful glee that the Ravens were trounced by the Titans (28-12). I've been muttering all season long about what a showoff the Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is. I actually said "I hate that kid!!" but then I felt like I was 12 years old again. I don't really hate him of course, but I do find him annoying. I suppose I am showing my age when I refer to a 23 year old man as a kid, but dammit! He actually wrestled with a team mate over the ball, apparently because he saw a clear path for himself. Of course it's "fine" because now there are rules in place about how and when a player can tackle the quarterback. Meh. I'm probably just pissed that the NE Patriots are out of the running. Aaaand, I'm probably the only one who gives a fig about the whole deal. But still... 28 to 12 Muahahaha! blogs: |

Well, I think the Lamar hype is a bit much. There are some pretty talented guys out there. Some of them act like idiots and some are classy. One thing I've always disliked is that hyper competitive attitude, like "It's not enough that I win, I must crush you into the dirt". I know a person has to have some healthy self confidence to play sports at a professional level but damn. Well, nobody acts as self important as Cam Newton, so there's that.
The Baltimore Ravens will be more than amply represented in tomorrow's Pro Bowl, with 12 players being chosen. Of course my pal Lamar Jackson is leading the pack.
Only three NE Patriots players were chosen, but whatever. My favorite Steelers player Maurkice Pouncey will be there.
