Trouble editing Logic.ds2res

Newbie at this, extracted Logic.ds2res using Tank Viewer 2, made a couple of minor changes in weapons gas files, but when try rebuilding with Tank Creator 2 and replacing Logic.ds2res the game won't load properly, or let you create new player.

Is there a "dummies" walk through for this, or am i just too old for this c*** and should just remember the game as was?

Thanks for any constructive suggestions, hell any comment at all

Hi. If I am understanding your post correctly, you extracted all of the files in Logic and then tried to put the whole thing back together? That's not a good idea (as you have seen) plus it is totally unncessary. Your modded files will automatically over ride the original gas files, so no need to retank all of logic.

What you can do is extract only the gas files you want to change. When browsing through Logic and finding the files you want, you can select each one by pressing "CTRL" and then clicking the "extract selected" *with* the folders. Using the folder option will help you keep the files in the correct directory. Create a main folder called "my weapons" or whatever you want to call it and put the extracted folders into the my weapons folder.

Once you are all set with your changes, tank your folder and put in resources. If you want, you can set a particular priority on your mod with tank creator but it's not mandatory.

I realize I am using DS 1 but the process is the same. If you need more help, feel free to post back and someone will be able to help you.

PS You're never too old for modding. It's fun! I'm one of the older members here (older, not old) !! Tongue

Thanks so much kathycf for your prompt reply, will have another try based on your suggestions

You're welcome. The main things to keep in mind are keeping the folders and gas files in the correct directories and making sure you didn't make a mistake with a ; or }. I remember some time ago I had missed one } and I could not find it. The mod had completely messed the game up until I fixed that pesky } .

Here is a [https://siegetheday.org/?q=node/522]tutorial[/url] on creating directories. There are other tutorials based on which version of the game you are interested in. I don't know how familiar you are with modding, but these tutorials should give you some ideas.

There are some clever modders working on different mods for DS2 and Broken World as well as adapting DS1/LoA maps for use in DS2. You might want to check those out if you haven't already.
