Twisty Neck!

I noticed when I was testing out some armor things that having a head option other than the default farmgirl head causes the model's neck to twist around when equipping type 4 armor.

This also happened when I equipped various types of helms.

I tried out every other type of armor in the game and did not see any of the twisting other than what happened with the type 4. I thought it was pretty strange and I guess I did not notice before because I rarely have farmgirl characters use that armor type. It reminds me of the '80s clothing with those huge shoulders. Smile

Type 4 looks so much better on a Catmansion girl or an Elf girl.

The symptoms look like a straightforward stitching error on the armor, i.e the neck vertices are numbered wrongly, but then it should happen on all heads and helms. That suggests that all the other heads are wrong, but then it would happen with other armor. I'll have to open it all up in gMax and take a look. This screenshot shows the sequence (1 at the front, 4 at the back) and the images look like they're running the opposite direction. Male and female should be the same six, in the same order.

That does seem odd. Maybe there is something different about the farmgirl default head vs. all the other heads/helms? I'm interested to see what your results are when you get a chance to look at it.

Oh, and um...any chance of making the shoulders not so huge? *crosses fingers* Smile

I figured out the reason the standard head works and the others don't. The default head is part of the armor mesh and is the "no replacement" instance. When you use a different head it removes the standard one and stitches on the new one. It looks like A4 must have had the stitching wrong. Anyhow, this one should have it right, as well as reduced shoulders.

The shoulders look great, thank you very much. The twisting is completely gone, too. I really appreciate you taking a look at this.

The armor still doesn't want to play nice with other heads and helms though. It looks like something is trying to squish the default head on top of a helm or when using a different head. Two heads are better than one? :P

It looks like the selection of faces that are considered "head" got corrupted on export. I'll do another if my computer stays alive long enough. It's developed a fault that makes it switch itself off at random, which is always at a critical point.

Ugh, I had something similar going on about a month or so with my computer and it was very frustrating. When you get a chance to check on the mesh, that will be cool. Thanks

Same link. She should have head, hands and feet properly defined now.

All fixed up and looking good. Thanks very much ghastley. Smile
