The zombies are coming, the zombies are com...ack!

So, it's October now, and the summer has just flown by again. But that means Halloween is coming, one of my favorite childhood holidays. I last went out trick or treating as a senior in high school and some people were reluctant to give me candy. "Aren't you too old for this?" Psssh. Free candy, man. No one is too old for that. Plus I think I was a little drunk... *blush* (don't tell my Dad!) Anyway, I was fooling around last night and wanted to make DS Halloween costumes. At first I was going to do Freddy Krueger, because we have his hat and his claws (kinda sorta) in the game. But the face texture was ridiculous and I wanted a costume for a female character as well. Frederica Krueger doesn't cut it. Having remembered my love of zombies (The Walking Dead will be starting soon! ) I decided to go with a male and female zombie. I was able to use Dungeon Siege textures and my painting program for most everything, but I did have to google images of rotten meat. That was...not very nice. The zombies are coming! The zombies are here! I wish they had come out better, but not too bad for a first pass. It's annoying that textures have to be symmetrical in the game, it sort of ruined the rotten flesh bits, and the skully bits. I was lazy with the icons, but you know it is the girl's armor because I stuck a pink bow on the skull. Yes, I am pretty silly. Zombie boy's beard kept getting in the way. blogs: |

Cool zombies Kathy, the says as she hides in the closet and wonders if garlic also works on zombies.
My likes Zombies (now where did I put the Saiga )
That reminds me, time to re-read the entire "Anita Blake" series and dig ou the "rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Little Shop of Horrors" for a Halloween night double feature
I just finished reading all of the Anita Blake series last month (a new one comes out pretty soon). When I first started reading them this winter, she was talking about beepers and I'm like "Beepers"?! Then I realized that she started writing those books in the mid to late 90's. Wow. I tend to skip over the "sexy bits" in the later novels because I find them too explicit for my taste ( I am a total prude, lol).
For some reason, I really like the character of Otto, just because he is so psycho and I liked the way she developed the character of Edward. Richard started nice but is kind of a jerk now, and Asher is a twit. All in all, pretty good reading. I like the way that she incorporates the supernatural into the every day world, although I do not think I would want the job of re-animator. No, just no.
I'm currently reading the "Chicagoland Vampires" series by Chloe O'Neil. I find them pretty fun to read, not so serious as Laurell Hamilton's work.

Anyway...
Lili, I'm sorry to say garlic does not work on zombies, and according to some of the books I've been reading lately it doesn't work on vampires either. d'oh! Oooh, I could go for some garlic bread now...
I'm re doing the zombies, and instead of using the Dungeon Siege skeleton for the eye sockets and jaw, I downloaded some pictures of actual skulls. If anyone saw my google search history lately they would think I was pretty nuts.
Zombie boy 2.0
He looks so much creepier as a Catmansion Boy.
Bunny Ears
Aw, look at the pigtails. She looks more like a clown than a zombie. Clowns are scary too, though.
Oddly, when using Google to search for pictures of rotten meat (for zombie skin textures, not for fun ). This cartoon was one of the results. Huh.
Kathy as one Vulture said to the other "Do you want the white meat or the green meat?" Did you try Googling "dead bodies" or "dead makeup"? Both have images that might help your search for skin for zombies.
Another cartoon that came up (and I did see the "white meat or green" one too, lol).
I actually got a good amount of use out of this picture, despite it having watermarks or whatever on it. Like who is going to trademark rotten meat. *shrug*

So many yucky bits to work with, so little time...until Halloween that is.
These hairstyles did NOT make the cut. I thought the brain would be funny and that the maggots in the girl's hair would look cool. Nope. One. Bit.
Cover that mess with a hat!
I like the bite on the arm, but the mirror image factor really messess that up
I thought the bite on the arm came out pretty good.
That is until I remembered how everything is a mirror image.
Just a few mirror images that are not DS related for you Kathy. Maybe no pun intended.
Those are actually cool, elfy. I especially like the one with the kitten (natch) as well as the girl holding the shard to her face.
By the way, I have learned a lesson. Do NOT post things in forums at 1 am while on sleeping meds and cold meds. I posted the same image twice and otherwise repeated my self, all in a semi-coherent fashion. Ugh! I did not even post all the pictures and now I can't because Photobucket had a brainfart or something and I can't log in.
The "mirror image" pic should be the one showing the guy with the bite in the exact same place on his other arm (well, yes of course, that's what mirror image means, kathy, duh). It just looked like a zombie came up, bit him and then decided to take the exact same bite on the other arm. Like his arm was a nice crisp apple or something. *rolls eyes*
